Who thought you could rustle up hearty, vegan, family meals without a hob or an oven? We did!

Our FoodNet recipe series brings you easy-to-follow recipes you can make with just a kettle and microwave - proving that eating healthy doesn't have to be hard!

All our recipes were developed by staff member and vegan cook extraordinaire, Shelagh Martin, and have been made into easy-to-follow recipe videos presented by the friendly and warm Hannah Schlotter, one of our growers and trainers at the Dagenham Farm.

They're now all up on YouTube for you to view.

Recipes include classics like:

Veggie chilli with cheesy polenta

Red lentil & veg curry with creamy coconut milk

Tuscan bean & pasta soup

and much more!

About FoodNet:

The Growing Communities’ FoodNet project was delivered during 2020 and 2021, in response to the increased food poverty and financial insecurity caused by the pandemic. We created a ready-meal delivery service with a recipe-kit and online cooking class all rolled into one. Our team delivered free, healthy ready meals, meal kits and online cooking sessions to families and individuals in need in the area surrounding our Dagenham Farm. Local people, referred by William Bellamy Children's Centre, received weekly healthy ready meals and were also provided with the recipe and a food pack with all the ingredients they needed to re-create the meal from scratch. They could then tune into the live-streamed online classes to cook along with GC's experienced trainer and enjoy the results.

This project was made possible by the National Lottery Community Fund.
